NEW YORK --The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers are set to take the field Monday for Game 3 of the 2024 Major League Baseball World Series. The former neighbors and rivals will face off in the World Series for the first time in 43 years.

The Dodgers are seeking their eighth World Series title and second in five years. The Yankees are chasing their 28th title, but first since 2009.

Here's the Yankees roster for the 2024 World Series.

History of Yankees-Dodgers in the World Series

The two teams have faced each other in 11 World Series, more than any other teams. When the Dodgers were Brooklyn-based, the Yankees had a commanding 6-1 edge in World Series matchups. Since the Dodgers moved to Hollywood in the late 50s, the teams are even at two a piece. They last met in 1981.

New York is coming off its 41st American League championship, and Los Angeles off its 25th National League pennant.

When is Game 3 of the World Series?

Game 3 of the 2024 World Series is Monday night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:08 p.m.

The best-of-seven series started with two games in Los Angeles, and now heads to Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

2024 World Series tickets on sale

World Series tickets are on sale and ticket prices are staggering. One New York couple dipped into their wedding fund to buy tickets, taking $9,400 for four tickets to Game 5.

As of Monday, re-sale tickets for Game 1 at Dodger Stadium range from around $2,000 for seats in the upper deck in right field to over $37,000 to sit right behind home plate, before taxes and fees.

Re-sale tickets for Game 3 at Yankee Stadium range from around $1,500 for seats in the right field bleachers to over $18,000 to sit next to the Yankees' dugout. Yankee Stadium also has a standing-room-only Pinstripe Pass for more than $1,000 that gets you inside and one drink, but no seat.

StubHub reports sales have outpaced last year's final figures and are four times higher than the pace of the 2022 Series. Sales for Games 3 through 5 in New York are 40% higher than for Games 1, 2, 6 and 7 in Los Angeles.

USAA shared the following tips for avoiding ticket scams:

  • Buy from trusted vendors using websites likeVerifiedTicketSource.comto verify registered ticket resellers. USAA says Ticketmaster and StubHub guarantee against fraudulent listings.
  • When possible, use protected payment methods like credit cards. Payments made with cash, Zelle or wire transfers can be difficult to recover.
  • Check for a refund policy and be wary of listings that aren't clear about the terms of the transaction.
  • Watch out for phishing scams and suspicious links in texts or emails that can add malicious software to your device and allow scammers to track your activity online.
  • If you're buying tickets on Facebook, check to see how recently the account was made. It's a red flag if the page was made in the last month or has very few posts.
  • Finally, if the price is too good to be true, it probably is. Don't let scammers use a sense of urgency lure you into a bad deal.

To report possible fraud, contact your bank immediately and file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
